Fire Hydrant System
The foundation of any firefighting system is a well-designed and laid-out hydrant system, which is one of the most traditional yet widely used firefighting solutions. It is made up of heavy-duty subterranean and above-ground pipes and their accessories. There are fire escape and external hydrant valves at each key point. A fire hydrant is a conduit that, when controlled by a valve, permits water to flow from a water main to extinguish a fire.
The purpose of the Fire Hydrant Protection System is to combat large-scale fires in all risk categories. It is intended to continue functioning even in the event that a portion of the impacted structure collapses.
Dry barrel and wet barrel are the two kinds of Fire Hydrants. The wet barrel fire hydrant holds a constant water supply, while the dry barrel fire hydrant needs to have a valve release to let water in.
It is designed to provide rapid access to water in the event that a fire breaks out. Fire Brigade Connections are installed as standalone systems which act like building-specific fire hydrants, providing fire protection which will be readily available to fire fighters.
Guidelines and approval for Hydrant System are available from various national and international organizations like: NBC, NFPA, TAC, IS, FM and Local Fire Authorities.
